Configuring dial-up connection (Win 95/98)
The
following is a step-by-step procedure for configuring your dial-up
connection for internet access in Windows 95/98. Your screens may
vary slightly depending on the operating system you are currently
using.
You can also automatically configure your computer for your dial-up
connection by logging into your personal home page, selecting the
"account" button, choosing the service to configure, and
clicking the "configure my PC for this account" button.
1.
Go to your start menu and select Start > Settings > Control
Panel.
2. From the control panel, double click the Internet Options Icon.
3. Select the Connections tab at the top of the window, and then
select the add button to the right.
4. A wizard will start and ask you for some input. First give the
connection a name. Type Eagles-Net.org in the
field that says My Connection. Then, push the "Next" button.
5. Enter the dial-up access number you selected when you signed
up for dial-up access, and then push the "Next" button.
6. When the next screen comes up, push the "Finish" button.
7. A new icon under dial-up settings is created with the name Eagles-Net.org.
Highlight the icon, push the "set default" button to the
lower right, and put a check next to always dial my default connection.
8. Push the "Settings" button on the right side (make
sure the Eagles-Net.org icon is still highlighted).
At the bottom of the new window, Enter in your dial-up username
that was given to you when you signed up, and enter in your password.
9. Push the "OK" button and return to the Internet Properties
window.
10. Select the General tab at the top of the Internet Properties
window, and enter http://www.Eagles-Net.org
into the address field under Home Page.
11. Push the "OK" button, and close the control panel
window. You are now ready to connect to the internet with your Eagles-Net.org
dial-up connection. Just double click the Internet Explorer icon
from your desk top, or start any browser you would prefer to use.
When prompted to, select the connect button to start the dialing
process. Once your modem is connected, Internet Explorer will take
you to the Eagles-Net.org home page.
